Cleveland Zoo in September

11.9.2026 by Michelle Rippey

On my way to New York I visited the Cleveland Zoo in Ohio. The Zoo began as Wade Park in 1882 after Jeptha H. Wade donated 73-acres of land and 14 American deer to the City of Cleveland. By 1907, however, Cleveland City Council had laid plans to build the Cleveland Museum of Art and decided to move the Zoo to its current location. You can learn more here.

Well, hello there. I believe this is the koala that was born a few years ago.

Cleveland has Masai giraffes. This youngster is about a year old.

What a giraffe habitat should look like! The photo doesn’t show it all. Feedings are done at the open deck on the right.

I must be near the wolves….🦅

Cleveland Zoo only has 2 wolves left from the pack.

Cooper? Cody? Which grizzly brother is behind the fresh browse?

I said “Cooper, is that you” & the answer is YES 😀

A small portion of the grizzly habitat. I absolutely ❤️ the waterfall 😍

Caught part of the sloth bear enrichment. Sadly the cub I saw last year passed unexpectedly during a medical procedure.

Yes, I thanked you for not spritzing me. I ❤️ that the big cats in Cleveland can walk above guests.

Hello, handsome😍 I believe you boys are brothers born a couple years ago.
