Hamish in a chasing mood

12.8.2026 by Pat Waldron

When Hamish was swimming in the Lake Polar Bear he suddenly caught sight of a seagull. Usually he doesn’t mind the presence of the feathered things but this time …

Hamish hones in on the seagull

… he decided to attack. Gotcha!

Gotcha

No, Hamish. You missed.

You missed Hamish

And now there were five of them!

Then there were five

Hamish left the birdies and caught sight of brother Brodie instead.

‘He’s behind you’ ….. Hamish sneaks up on little Brodie much to his surprise.

Brodie was taken by surprise but he seemed to be quite happy meeting Hamish again.

The brothers had fun together.

Maybe they were dancing reel in the water … 🙂

Darcy is a happy and proud mother of four sweet cubs.

Although she’s busy taking care of the kids she has some time for relaxation, too!

Oh my, where are the kids again?

One of the sweeties was well hidden behind the green leaves. 🙂

  1. Dear Pat snd Mervi
A very special edition today with the Polasis brothers and Cheetah and Hyena babies. I think Hamish and Brodie could give the Gallagher brothers a few lessons

  2. Dear Pat!
Thank you for the new pictures. It is always fun to watch the polar bear playing in the water.
Datcy and her kids Look very nice.
    Noubas babies are cute.
    Hugs

  3. Pat, Mervi,
At the zoo, the bears usually tolerate the ravens as they’re just after their food, but seagulls are quite a bit bigger and are therefore real ‘enemies’ that need to be chased away. Unfortunately, even they’re too fast for polar bears.

The cheetah family is absolutely lovely, but keeping an eye on the little gang is like herding a sack of fleas – in other words, very difficult.
The spotted hyenas are also thriving. All the animals at Yorkshire Park are doing well!

  4. Vielleicht wollte Hamish zur Abwechslung mal etwas Neues wagen.. ?!

  5. Dear Pat and Mervi!
It’s always touching to watch animals that are happy and fully in the moment – seeing them hunt playfully, play with their mates, and cuddle with the children – that’s why you go to a zoo…
Thank you for these vivid impressions!

    Hugs
    Anke
