Hou-chan in Tennoji Zoo Osaka

Heute lernen wir die wunderbare Eisbärin Hou-chan kennen.

Today we meet the wonderful polar bear Hou-chan.

Die Japaner lieben sie und haben extra für ihren Schatz Fanartikel entwickelt. Wer die Bärin spielen sieht, weiß warum … 🙂

The Japanese love her and have developed fan merchandise especially for their darling. Anyone who sees her playing knows why… 🙂

Das Gehege sieht nicht so schön aus, aber Hou-chan hat jede Menge Spielzeug …

The enclosure doesn’t look so nice but Hou-chan has lots of toys …

… und sie weiß wirklich, wie man mit ihnen spielt!

Hou-chans Eltern sind Icchan (Shilka) and Gogo – die beide in der Zoorasia des Yokohama Zoos leben. Die drei wurden nach Horai behannt, einem berühmten Schweinebrötchen aus Osaka.

Hou-chan’s parents are Icchan (Shilka) and Gogo, who both live in the Zoorasia section of Yokohama Zoo. The three were named after Horai, a famous pork bun from Osaka.

Quite a challenge!

Das Gehege der Eisbären ist sehr altmodisch, aber es wird ein neues, besseres Gehege geben.

The polar bears’ enclosure is very old fashioned but there will be a new better enclosure.
