I guess many of you have been wondering where Sisu is nowadays. I asked the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and you can read their answer in the end of this article.
Hamish in was looking for company. It was again a hot day so he wanted to have a swimming pal.
Where’s Nobby when you need him?
Oh, here he is!
Mr Nobby I presume?
Oh no, suddenly Brodie appeared and ‘stole’ Nobby!
Brodie and Nobby getting to grips with each other.
They had so much fun together.

Of course, Hamish wanted to join Nobby and his kid brother.
Oh bear, they say ‘three is a crowd’.
Why don’t you want me to join you?
Soon Hamish was ‘accepted’ and the three bears were splashing in the water together. Wouldn’t it be nice if even the two legged creatures could accept each other in the same way?
All is well when the end is well! The trio had a nice nap together after a busy morning.
Here’s another trio in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park: The Three Amigos Fudge, Ferdinand and Ebenezer.
Not a trio but a lovely tapir duo: Matilda and Luna.

From Yorkshire Wildlife Park:
Hi Mervi,
Thank you for getting in touch.
I can reassure you that Sisu is absolutely fine. He is currently spending time in Project Polar 2 as we are in the breeding season, and the male bears can become a little more boisterous and rowdy during this period. Keeping them separated at times allows us to manage their interactions safely and ensure the best possible welfare for all of our bears.
As we move into the autumn months, we expect things to naturally settle down, and this will allow us to review their arrangements.
Sisu’s welfare has not changed in any way, and he continues to receive the highest standard of care from our dedicated animal team. He still has access to a range of enrichment opportunities, just like the other bears in Project Polar 1, and his needs continue to be met every day.
Thank you for your concern for Sisu, it’s clear how much you care about him. We hope this reassures you that he is happy, healthy, and being very well looked after.

Dear Pat and Mervi
Thank you for the lovely photos and story of Hamish Brodie and Nobby. I am glad YWP were able to reassure us about Sisu. If I remember from my visits he tends to get enthusiastic about the younger bears.
Hello Pat,
Dear Mervi,
You’ve once again described Pat’s excellent photos and the company of the three bears beautifully.
I’m just as delighted as you are about the good news from SISU, and the fact that the park replied to you in such detail is the best example of the excellent care all the bears receive there.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Britta-Gudrun
Dear Pat and Mervi!
The polar bears at the YWP seem to be having a lovely summer together: full board, a cool place to swim and good friends with whom they even share the den for their afternoon nap. Wonderful photos!
How kind of the YWP to put your mind at ease about Sisu, Mervi, and to reply to you in such detail! THAT is what makes a good zoo…
Hugs

Dear Mervi!
O am very glad that you asked about Sisu. I hope we will see his pictures very soon.
Dear Pat!
Thank you for the pictures.
The bears enjoyed the summer weather.
Hugs
