Diego and Brunhilda are the two brown bears living in Jimmy’s Farm. They were both rescued as oprhaned but have now a good forever home.
They both have access to the main wooded enclosure during the day but I am not sure if this is the case at night. It was really interesting observing them, Diego is Mr Cool personified and walks around everywhere as though he hasn’t a care in the world.
Diego has lots of space for long walkabouts.
Mervi’s note: I’m so happy seeing Diego happy!
On the other hand Brunhilda is forever on her guard, even when playing she is looking up and checking to see if he is coming. Not sure if you have seen the little video of Diego walking along the fenceline, heading towards the pool?
As soon as she spots him she just make a quick dash in the other direction. Brunhilda is smaller, much faster and can climb a lot higher than Diego. She often heads for her favourite tree, a large beautiful Oak tree, to scamper up. It will take time but hopefully she will find a way to trust him and a bond will form one day.
She was in a playing mood with her new ball.
A quality control in process 🙂
No Diego in sight …
Information by Jimmy’s Farm:
‘Diego arrived at Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park in early 2024 after being rescued from the Orsa Wildlife Park in Sweden that was closing down. He was the last bear remaining and his future was uncertain. A fundraising campaign was launched, and the community, from Suffolk and beyond, rallied together to ensure he could be brought to safety. Thanks to that outpouring of support, Diego now enjoys a peaceful life in a spacious, natural woodland where he can dig, explore and simply be a bear.’
‘Brunhilda joined Diego in late 2024 from Bears in Mind, a bear sanctuary in Romania. Rescued as a cub, she was unable to be returned to the wild due to war and political challenges in the region. She needed a forever home and Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park was proud to offer her just that. Now, she thrives in her new surroundings, climbing trees, swimming in the lake and enjoying her peaceful new chapter.’
