The two polar bears Kap and Nuka have met for the first time. The first contact was cautious and without aggression between the two animals. In the early morning, all the partitions between the two enclosure areas and in the indoor boxes were opened.
In the lower part, where there is a passageway between the two areas, the bears faced each other for the first time.
“She was startled for a moment at first,” reports Moritz Ehlers, head of the enclosure. “But then after a few minutes she showed cautious interest. And fortunately Kap didn’t push her, so it was quite relaxed. We’re very happy about that; with wild animals, you can never predict how a reunion like this will go.”
Petra met Nuka a couple of days before she had the first meeting with Kap.
She was exploring the enclosure ….
… and it looks like she’s very happy in her new home.
I wonder if she had a hunch that something very special would happen during the next days.
She looked totally relaxed and happy! 🙂
Petra even met the cute red pandas in the Karlsruhe Zoo. This is Lalima.
Lokesh and Akuti two were having some hanky panky.
They look so happy together.
Terai was sun bathing but posed nicely with her eyes closed. 🙂
No more photos today! Thank you for watching!
