This time I want to show you photos from the early days of our Knuti’s life. This magic baby bear immediately charmed us. He brought us together and he still keeps many of us together – Amazing!
He was so tiny …
… but thanks to Thomas Dörflein’s excellent care he became the cutest baby bear boy in the world!
I think Knut always felt the presence of the lots of fans visiting him.
He looked so lovely standing on his hind legs.
In this photo the ball was as big as Knut but we all remember how he later played football with the visitors.
The little guy was, of course, very curious …
…. oh bear, are there two of me?
He loved to play with his famous jutesack.
The green blanket was also a favourite.
We could watch Knut very closely when he was playing in his mulch bed.
When I visited Knut for the first time this is what I saw first.
We all loved to Watch him sleeping peacefully. Imagine – we stayed outside his enclosure for hours just watching a sleeping baby bear.
These photos are iconic showing the bond between a keeper and a polar bear cub.
I’m truly grateful I could be a part of the happy Knut aera that sadly ended far too soon.

Our Knut was such a sweetheart, and the photos are absolutely lovely! I love them all, especially the ones where it looks as if he’s wearing a nappy under his fur (the fifth and sixth)… But they all make me sigh deeply and look back fondly on that wonderful time. Thank you for taking us along the memory lane!
