19.9.2026 – Photos by Hasumi Nobuo
There are four polar bears living at the Sendai Yagiyama Zoological Park in Japan – Mama Paula, her twins Umi and Sora and papa Kai (not to mix with Kai in Novosibirsk).
Paula was born at Palić Zoo in Serbia on December 5, 2004.
She came to Yagiyama Zoo in October 2000.
The twins Umi (male) and Sora (female) were born on the 20th of December 2024.
Papa Kai was born on the 2nd of December 2004 at Leningradsky Zoo in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His parents were the famous couple Uslada and Menshikov. (Photo: Yagiyama Zoo)
Paula and her kids are admiring themselves in the water mirror. 🙂

What a lovely polarbear-family you have!
Thanks for the interesting photos. 🙂
That’s a lovely family of polar bears in Japan.
And the genes of the famous polar bear couple, Uslada and Menshikov, are highly sought-after in polar bear breeding.
Thank you for the lovely family photos!
