Brodie Bear is heading home – and he will not be travelling alone!
Five-year-old Brodie has been staying with us while Highland Wildlife Park carried out some maintenance work on his habitat. With the work now complete, it’s almost time for him to return home. We’ve absolutely loved having him here, and he’ll be greatly missed by the YWP team and our visitors alike! 💙
Our very own polar bear, Luka, will be making the journey back to Scotland with him. Luka is one of our older bears, and he’s been showing Brodie the ropes and teaching him some good polar bear etiquette! 🐾
While Brodie was here, he also got to meet his big brother, Hamish, and made friends with Nobby too. 🥰 Don’t panic – there’s still time to come and see Brodie and Luka together before they head back to Scotland in early October.

I guess it will soon be time for Brodie to leave Yorkshire and move back to Scotland. For the time being he’s enjoying the cooler days after the hot Summer.
The feathered friends are always around.
Brodie is a big boy now …
… but his brother Hamish is even bigger! However, they look very much alike.
A muddy bear is a happy bear ….
…. but maybe a refreshing bath would be nice, too. Brodie caught sigt of Luka and decided to join him in the water.
Luka, aren’t you glad about my company?
Oh yeah, Brodie old chap – I’m always glad to meet you.
After the water games Brodie found something eatable in the water.
This is really yammy!
Brodie decided to enjoy the rest of the meal on land.
A bear can get thirsty even on a cool day! 🙂
The Summer was OK but I must say I’m glad the hot days are over now.
I welcome the Autumn and, of course, I’m already looking forward to the Winter season – hopefully with lots of snow!

Dear Pat!
I think Brodie has a wonderful time in YWP.

Wow – how big Hamish is !
I remember the little one
very good. Brodi and Luka
also have much fun in the
water – thanks for the
nice photo delivery! 🙂
Dear Pat!
Thank you very much for this lovely update from Yorkshire!
Brodie may be a big, handsome bear, but he’s not quite fully grown yet. He still has that slightly childlike face. It’s lovely to see that the bears are clearly doing well and getting on with one another. Thanks for sharing!

Dear Mervi, dear Pat!
I hope Brodie and Luka arrive safe and sound in Scotland and that they have everything they need there! It’s sure to be a somewhat sad farewell for the keepers in Yorkshire as they say goodbye to these handsome male bears.

I wish Brodie and Lika a good journey.

Dear Pat and Mervi
Thank you for the photos and news about Brodie going home to the Highlands. Luka has already had to move from his concrete world in Wuppertal. I am a little surprised that he has been chosen to move again.
I assume that like Walker and Arktos they will be good friends.
