In the Rhenen Zoo the visitors can meet three generations of polar bears – Grandma Huggies, Mama Freedom and her children Sura and Yuka. On the 9th of November I had the pleasure to meet this lovely family.
In this photo you can see them all. ‘Oma’ Huggies in the front.
Huggies was born in the Wrangel Island (in the wild) in 1993.
Huggies is a beautiful old lady.
Despite her respectable age she feels like a young girl when she’s rolling in the grass – or in the mud.
This is Huggies’ granddaughter Sura.

Baby Yuka was born in 2019 but because he’s the youngest member of the family he can be called ‘baby’.
Mama Freedom having a nap.
Yuka tried to catch mama’s attention ….
…. but mama kept napping so Yuka joined her.
These brown bears were rescued from miserable living conditions but now they can have a good life in the Rhenen Zoo.
The lions were gathered for a nice family portrait.
