A perfect day for hiking

17.8.2026 by Michelle Rippey

It’s time for a wander at Wehr Nature. Here are a few faves from my wandering the past couple of days. Have a beautiful day and go take a hike (just keep moving or mosquitoes will carry you away). ✌️❤️&🐸

Well, hello there. You’re a different youngster. 😍

Oh my, what big eyes you have 😍

nature2

And ears, too 😍

nature3

Snacking away. I was taking butterfly photos when this sweetie appeared. 😍

“I always feel like….somebody’s watching me”. Hello, tree frog. Nice to see you again!

nature5

Coming in closer…

nature6

And now zooming in really close

nature7

Excuse me, but you’re really close to me! Close enough that we could boop noses, but you’re a wild friend so we’ll just take a photo.

nature8

Time to head back to the woods. Hmm, I wonder if I’ll see the twins this visit.

nature9

Whoa….I saw you land on the other side of the lake. Of course, I was taking great blue heron photos.

nature10

Heavily cropped photo, but you’re beautiful. Hmm…red tail or ??? COOPERS hawk!!

nature11

On my way to Warbler Bridge to look for the muskrats this gorgeous hawk gave me time for a quick pic. I believe a sharp-shinned hawk.

If trees could talk, I bet you’d have some great stories. It’s also time to

  1. Hello Michelle,
Humphrey Bogart’s famous line from the film *Casablanca* is spot on here: ‘Look into my eyes, kid!’
These are beautiful portraits, and the falcon with its piercing gaze is lovely too.
The tree has suffered many wounds, yet it continues to grow. Nature heals its own wounds – if you let it.

    Best wishes and thanks!

  2. Dear Michelle!
That must have been a wonderful day, with some very special encounters with animals. You’ve captured the deer with its pretty ears, the slightly creepy tree frog and the falcon beautifully. That gnarled tree could surely tell many a tale; it reminds me a bit of the Ents in *The Lord of the Rings*.
    Thank you very much!
